Sqn Ldr Dilip Kamalakar Dighe, Vr.C

During the India-Pakistan war in December 1971, Flt Lt Dilip Kamalakar Dighe as a pilot of a fighter bomber squadron, flew 14 sorties in support of our ground forces. On two of these missions he spotted enemy tank concentrations. He immediately directed the formation on to the target and his own accurate shooting resulted in the destruction of four tanks, numerous enemy vehicles and two gun positions in the Chhamb-Jaurian Sector.

Throughout, Flt Lt Dighe displayed gallantry, professional skill and devotion to duty of a high order.
