Wg Cdr Sindhaghatta Subbaramu, Vr.C

During the India-Pakistan war in December 1971, Sqn Ldr Sindhaghatta Subbaramu flew 32 missions of combat air patrol, escort and interception.

He flew these sorties in adverse weather conditions and in pitch dark in the vicinity of hilly areas. During every escort mission, he ensured that the strike force was never threatened in any way by enemy aircraft and this enabled the strike force to attack the targets. He always brought the strike forces back to base safely.

Throughout, Sqn Ldr Subbaramu displayed gallantry, leadership and professional skill of a high order.
